She was visiting her grandmother for Christmas. She had a wonderful new floaty blue dress, her grandmother gave her a very old beaded purse, and told her she could borrow any book she wanted!
For the Inspiration Ave challenge old,new borrowed and blue.
And for Paint Party Friday I had a hard time deciding which post to link to?
Here is the other one, I think they both round the year off.
All the best for 2012!

This is a lovely piece. Wishing you a happy and creative new year.
This is just lovely, and that description reminds me of visits to my great Aunt's house, which seemed like a treasure palace of books and beautiful things that she let me explore.
It is an image and a few endearing words. Happy New Year
I love the soft blooms of colour in this painting! Nice idea to make up a little story round the theme :)
Beautiful! Happy New Year!
I like this old, new, borrowed, blue theme. The painting says it all. Beadutiful.

Happy,happy New Year♥
This is beautiful, she's going to tuck away some small treasure in that purse. There's a story in this painting.
you manage to capture such lovely evocative moments with your work... it isn't just your obvious skill, but there is a strong emotional element as well... just inspiring to visit your work...xx
Thank you all for your positive comments. May this new year bring lots of joy & painting :)

Oh gosh. I SO love this piece. Brings back many warm thoughts and feelings of being with my grandmother when a little girl. Aww. Happy 2012!

Wow, I love your watercolor. Great job. I really like the softness of it. Happy New Year!
What an absolutely charming painting - I love the looseness and casualness of the watercolor and that you're only seeing the girl from the back. And you told a great story with the painting - gorgeous!
What a wonderfully sweet and tender painting! Love it and the thoughts behind it.
Hope you have a fun and creative 2012, Catharine!
